Plugwise Zone heating | Build your own zone heating system
You might know Plugwise from the plugs that measure electricity and from the Anna thermostat. But did you know that they also have a very nice zone heating solution? This zone control is suitable for radiators and underfloor heating, and communicates via the OpenTherm protocol. The gift of this system is that the thermostatic valve Tom can work not only on batteries but also on mains (via USB). And all components still have catchy names too. It goes like this.
This is the boiler control. Works with Opentherm. Adam has built in WiFi and is placed at the boiler. Adam controls the heat supply to the different rooms. You can also just hang Adam on the network with a cable.
Lisa is actually a stripped-down version of the Anna. It is a zone control with built-in temperature sensor and LCD screen. On Lisa you set the temperature for the room in which she is placed. Lisa does not have to work on the wall, she just does her work on batteries.
Tom is the thermostatic valve for radiators (there is also a version especially for underfloor heating called Floor). Tom is very easy, he controls the temperature in the room based on the set temperature of Lisa. Lisa and Tom are a couple. Incidentally, several Toms can be linked to the Lisa. Tom does not only work on batteries, he can also be powered via USB. The advantage is never empty batteries and he also works as a signal amplifier. If that is possible i that is the best option. The biggest difference between Tom and Floor is that Floor is somewhat narrower (handy for distributors with a center distance of <6cm, and Floor only works on electricity). Tom is the smartest but also the thickest of the 2.
