Carbon monoxide (CO) is an invisible odorless and tasteless gas, which is very toxic when ingested. It is caused by incomplete combustion. This Z-wave sensor measures the CO concentration in the ambient air and passes an alarm message to the Z-wave controller when the following threshold values are achieved:
50 ppm for 60 minutes
100 ppm for 10 minutes
300 ppm for 3 minutes
Furthermore, another device can be switched on at that moment, this can be an automatic door opener or for example a z-wave alarm siren. The Zwave CO sensor consists of a mounting plate which is mounted on the wall where the CO sensor is mounted. Because carbon monoxide gas is lighter than air, the unit should preferably be mounted on the ceiling. The CO meter works on batteries and is therefore normally in sleep mode until an alarm message occurs in the form of CO gas. The device wakes up after a programmable sleep time and then sends status information to the Z-wave controller. The batteries can be replaced without disassembling the unit. A 3-colored LED indicates the status of the battery voltage and excess CO gas.
