Home Center and Amazon Echo

 FIBARO Smart Home Skill | Amazon tells Home Center what to do

Amazon Alexa is a voice controlled system that can answer all of your lifes qustins. But it can also control your smarthome controller. In this case the Home Center A. You can do it through two different skills: FIBARO Smart Home Skill and FIBARO Custom Skill.
 
What do you need?
Amazon echo or Echo Dot
FIBARO Home Center (> Firmware 4.130)
FIBARO ID-account
PC or MAC met internet verbinding

As mentioned there are 2 skills:

The Smart Home Skill for basic operations like lites on and off. You dont need voice activating ("Ask/Tell Fibaro")
The Custom Skill can do more (start scenes , RGBW control, etc) but needs voice activating. The command to do this is  "ask/tell Fibaro"

   

Step 1 :  FIBARO Smart Home Skill
The FIBARO Smart Home Skil, is the basic skill for commands like 'turn of kitchenlight". No need to use voice activating
Go to the  Alexa login page and login

Select "Skills' From the menu displayed

Fill in “FIBARO” in the search field

Select the Fibaro Smarthome skill

Enter the email adress and password of your FIBARO ID.
Clickk on login
The skill is now installed on the Alexa, which means the connection is made.

From now on you can use basic command like  "Alexa turn of dining light".

Step 2 the FIBARO Custom Skill 

The FIBARO Custom Skill offers the option to start scenes and control your RGBW modules via Amazon's Alexa. You will need the command "Ask/Tell FIBARO to” Activate this option.
How do you install the custom skill
Go to the Alexa login page site and login

Select skills from the menu

How does Alexa deal with multiple controllers?
When you have multiple Home Centers you can control them via the Amazon
Make sure you have selected the custom skill and say “Ask/tell FIBARO to list Home Center devices”.  Alexa will tell you all the Home Centers. After that you can use the right number.

  1. Controlling lights
  2. “Turn on [device name / group name]”
  3. “Turn off [device name / group name]”
  4. “Set [device name / group name] to [number]“
  5. “Increase [device name / group name] by [number] percent”
  6. “Decrease [device name / group name] by [number] percent”
  7. “Dim [device name / group name]”
  8. “Brighten [device name / group name]”
  9. Controlling shutters/blinds
  10. “Set [device name / group name] to [number]“
  11. “Increase [device name / group name] by [number] percent”
  12. “Decrease [device name / group name] by [number] percent”
  13. Turning on scenes
  14. “Activate/turn on [scene name]”
  15. Controlling multiple devices
  16. By grouping devices in Amazon Alexa app or using room name from your FIBARO System.
  17. Alternatively you can create scenes that control multiple devices.
    Use group name instead of device name.

  28. Controlling RGBW programs
  29. “Ask/tell FIBARO to start/activate program [program name e.g storm] on [device name]”
  30. Controlling scenes
  31. “Ask/tell FIBARO to activate/set the scene, [scene name]”
  32. “Ask/tell FIBARO to activate/set the [scene name] scene”
  33. Scene must be visible and enabled. Magic and Lua Scenes cannot be used with Alexa.
  34. Controlling multiple devices
  35. It is possible by grouping devices in Amazon Alexa app or using room name from your FIBARO System.
  36. Alternatively you can create scenes that control multiple devices.
